SOLD PENDING FUNDS. This is an original Miller Conversion of a US Model 1861 58 caliber rifle musket. The lock is marked Parkers'Snow & Co. Meriden, Conn. and dated 1863. These Model 1861 contract rifle muskets were converted to breech loading 58 caliber rimfire by Meriden Manufacturing Co. Meriden, Conn. under the W.H. & G. W. Miller Patent dated May 23, 1865. Approximately 2,000 were converted between 1865 and 1867. This rifle is serial numbered at 960. The overall condition is good to very good. The wood is in good condition with only a few minor dings. A crack has been professionally repaired that is on the right side of the stock running along the top side of the lock to the wrist. The bore is very good with very strong rifling and very minor pitting. The exterior metal is also good to very good with nice patina. The ramrod is original and in very good condition. The breech block locks up and the extractor works correctly. The firing pin is broken, and the lock has no half cock left on the tumbler and the bridle is cracked. The lock does function on full cock. Overall this is an above average Miller conversion with the tumbler and bridle an easy replaced if desired. Additional photos are available upon request.
