This is an original 38 caliber cloth patched slug rifle by J.N. Gardner Scranton, Pa.  The overall length is 47 1/2" with a 31" barrel and a 12 1/2" trigger pull.  The weight is 13.2 lbs.  The schutzen style stock is walnut and the furniture is nickle plated German Silver.  The back action lock and set triggers function correctly.  The rifle bore has strong rifling and is in good condition.  There is a small crack on the right side of the stock from the set triggers thru the lock plate to the tang but it doesn't appear to be a structural issue.  The barrel is marked Remington Cast Steel and J.N Gardner Scranton, PA.  The tang sight and false muzzle are missing.  The overall condition is very good and it's a nice representative slug rifle from that era.  Additional photos are available upon request.
