BOOK SIGNING Remembering Medina County Tales From Ohio's Western Reserve by Judy A. Totts With devilish cyclones, raging fires and marauding bears, early life in Ohio’s Western Reserve was not for the faint of heart. As the county grew to be more urban and prosperous, residents forged a strong and enduring sense of community. In this collection of her "Time Frame" columns, Judy Totts tells the story of Civil War soldiers and runaway slaves, passionate inventors and poets. These enchanting vignettes weave a vibrant and entertaining history, from the gallant rogue Jim Brown to the "giants" of Seville. Through her great wit and charming style, Totts evokes the sights, sounds and smells of home and captures the true essence of Medina County.Remembering Wadsworth From Pioneers to Streetcars by Caesar A. Carrino Battling wolves and wilderness, the settlers of 1814 were the first in a long line of daring and ingenious souls to call Wadsworth home. With a wry but gentle humor, former mayor Caesar A. Carrino regales his readers with tales of these colorful characters, including politically biased embalmers and a swindling tabloid entrepreneur whose ghost still haunts the streets of Wadsworth. Carrino spins a beguiling yarn as he chronicles the history of his city, from the sometimes tragic fate of early pioneers to the coming of a new century with rail, steam, coal and automobile. Both authors are residents of Medina county and will be here at the Log Cabin Shop for a joint book signing Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 to 2:00pm. Join us for a casual afternoon of local history. For more information on this event contact us at 330-948-1082 or email logcabin@logcabinshop.com
